One surface current is the Gulf Stream.
This warm current flows northeast from the Caribbean Sea, past the East Coast of the United States, and across the North Atlantic. Even after its long rip across the cold Atlantic, there is enough warm water in this current to warm the climate of Great Britain and northern Europe. That’s why palm trees can grow along the southern coast of England.
