NATIONAL PARK SERVICE PROJECT SLIDE SHOW
1. Your Ruritan Club President has asked you to prepare a slide show presentation using PowerPoint on your computer. The purpose of the slide show will be to persuade all club members and their families to spend a summer weekend at the park shown in your slide show. The objectives of the show are clarity, creativity, enlightenment, and to be pleasing to the eye.
Use the search engine Google. Type in your parks name and do a search. To find additional information type in www.yourparksname.national-park.com If your parks name is more than one word, include a period between the words. (E.G. www.grand.canyon.national-park.com)
2. Investigate and record information about your National Park in the following areas: Each of the sections (A - I) should represent at least one slide, unless otherwise stated. You MAY NOT copy and paste any text from the park web site.
A. Name & Location - Name of park and where it is located? (Include your name & Period)
B. Description - In three or four sentences describe your park. What would make me want to visit your park?
C. Acreage/Visitation -
1. Type in the following URL: http://www.nps.gov/parks.html
2. Click on View all Parks A-Z.
3. Click on a letter and choose your park.
4. Click on the link on the right that is called Facts
Supply the following information:
Total Gross Acreage for last year Visitation for last year
Budget for last year
D. Establishment - This slide should contain information about when the park was established. (year in history).
E. Pet Information- What rules does the park have for pets?
F. Facilities and Services (Lodging, Camping, Museuems, Visitor Centers)- Briefly describe the facilities that are open to the public. Pick out four facilities to include in the slide show presentation. If the park has camping/lodging facilities, include slides describing these. If camping/lodging facilities are not offered, include slides informing families that these facilities are not available. Display each facility or service on a separate slide (MINIMUM FOUR SLIDES).
G. Activities - What are some of the recommended activities visitors can
participate in? (MINIMUM FOUR SLIDES)
H. Additional Information - How can club members find out more or ask a specific question about the park? Give an address, phone number, e-mail/or URL.
