From: Ronald Brown Sent: Wednesday, January 05, 2005 9:18 AM Subject: Course Recommendations for Algebra Students Algebra Parents: It is time to select courses for next year. The procedure in the math department is for the current teacher to make a recommendation for next year. I am sending home my recommendation for next year to you. You need to decide which course you want your child to enroll in next year. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with my recommendation, you and your child need to sign the form and have your child return it to me. I would like to get the forms back by next Tuesday, 1/11. If I don't get the forms back, the student will have to serve a detention every day until the form is turned in. Lost forms will result in a detention as well. All students are being recommended for Geometry which is the next class in the BHS math sequence. The only decision is which level the students should be advancing to. The Program of Studies book describes the different levels on page 7. For Geometry BHS offers 2 levels: Accelerated and Honors. Since the Algebra class is at the Accelerated level, the students are being recommended for the accelerated level of Geometry. If you and your child feel that they should be in the honors level, feel free to contact me and we can discuss it. I am also giving the students a progress report for the current marking period that you should review with them. Mr. Brown
