From: Ronald Brown Sent: Monday, January 10, 2005 7:39 AM Subject: Algebra this week (1/10) Dear Algebra Parents: We are continuing our unit on solving systems of equations (Chapter 7 in Larson textbook). We took a quiz on Thursday that I plan to hand back to the students today. It was several problems directly from the homework. Students tended to either do very well or very poorly. I suggest that you ask your children to see the quiz. Point out that the quiz problems were the same as homework problems #10 and 19 from Larson page 349. If they are not understanding the homework, they should come for extra help. Extra help is available on a "drop-in" basis after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays and other times (e.g., before school) by appointment. We are having a quiz today (Monday) on solving systems of equations by substitution. We will probably have a quiz on Thursday on solving systems by linear combinations. As always the assignments for the week are posted on the Quia website at: http://www.quia.com/pages/bhsbrownalg1.html. Also, the course recommendation forms are due back by Tuesday. Your child will receive detention for every day passed then that I don't have the signed form. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Mr. Brown PS: I am adding a few email addresses every week so I am going to just add this postscript every week. Ignore it if you've seen it before. I'm sensitive to the fact that your email boxes may be overflowing, so if you don't want to receive this type of email in the future just let me know and I will remove your name from my distribution list. I am sending this to the email addresses I have collected so far. If you know parents of other Algebra I students you might suggest that they send me an email so I can add their address to my list.
