We should be taking a "Quick Quiz" on the section 5.4 on Thursday. The assignments for the week are posted on the homework hotline page at http://www.quia.com/pages/bhsbrownalg1.html. Hopefully all of your children completed the poster project that is due last Monday, November 22nd. A description of the project is available on the homework web page at . The project is worth 75 points so it will be almost the equivalent of a test grade (tests are usually 100 points). A 10% penalty per day is applied to any late projects. I am allowing students to redo the project since this was our first one and some of the students were a little confused about the assignment. I do not plan to allow for "redos" on future projects. Here is what I handed out in class about redoing the project: If you want to raise your score on the project, you may turn in another poster on Friday, December 3rd . You must include the grade sheet you received for the original project. Any late points deducted from the first attempt will also be deducted from your redo. No redone projects will be accepted after Friday, December 3rd. No redone projects will be accepted without the original grade sheet. I am handing back a quiz today that we took last Tuesday. Problems 2 and 3 were exactly homework problems. Problems 1 and 4, were very close to homework problems. I would recommend that you ask your child to see the quiz. If they did not do well ask them about the fact that the problems matched the homework. Are they doing the homework? If they are trying the homework, but not understanding it is important that they seek extra help. I am available Wednesday and Thursday after school on a "drop-in" basis for extra help and any morning before school, except Wednesday, by appointment. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Mr. Brown PS: I am adding a few email addresses every week so I am going to just add this postscript every week. Ignore it if you've seen it before. I'm sensitive to the fact that your email boxes may be overflowing, so if you don't want to receive this type of email in the future just let me know and I will remove your name from my distribution list. I am sending this to the email addresses I have collected so far. If you know parents of other Algebra I students you might suggest that they send me an email so I can add their address to my list.
