Physics 11

The following activity is an activation assignment. This must be completed online and e-mailed to your instructor before you may register in  DL Physics 11. It will be worth 5% of your total course mark. This assignment should take approximately two hours in total. There are links to some recommended websites where you can learn the concepts as you complete this assignment. You may wish to do a rough copy of your answers on paper, before completing the online version. If you quit the program, it will be submitted automatically, even if you have not finished, so be sure to complete all sections during the same time period and then submit

Learning Outcomes:

Review and apply basic math skills needed for Physics 11

Section One: Basic Math Skills

Complete the interactive tutorial on "Basic Skills" including the "Chapter 1 Quiz". You should master this material (90% or higher) before going onto the next section.

Section Two: Basic Math Skills Assignment

Make sure you have mastered all the material from the tutorial and practice quiz from Section One before attempting this assignment.

The 3 questions on this assignment are based on the material from the practice quiz and you will be able to repeat the assignment (if necessary) until you are satisfied with your result.

(*Note: You will need to input your FIRST and LAST name in order for your results to be recorded).

Learning Outcomes:

Technology Section:

This course will require that you use some of the many educational tools available on the internet and that you are comfortable in sharing your ideas in a virtual world. Fostering a sense of community is one of my goals for this year and to begin this process you are asked to complete the activity explained below.

Follow the link below and watch the video clips on the virtual bulletin board. You will be asked to respond to the 2 questions and post your response on the virtual bulletin board. This maybe your first experience posting your thoughts in this type of collaborative setting and so it is important to remember that your posting should be appropriate for a learning environment and is focused on the questions that are being asked.

A notification e-mail will automatically be sent when you post your response and so in order to receive credit for this part of the activation assignment, you MUST include in your posting, your FIRST NAME, FIRST INITIAL of your LAST NAME as well as the COURSE(s) you are going to be taking.

In the space below, please indicate with a simple YES or NO whether you have posted onto the virtual bulletin board.

Finally,  Welcome to North Vancouver School District Distributed Learning and we look forward to working together to help you achieve your goals.
