Korean Placement Test

1. Test Components

(1) Online Test – You should finish the online test at home (or dorm, computer cluster, etc.) by August 23, 5PM (EST). The test will be available from August 1. * Use your Yale email address only.

(2) Oral Interview – This fifteen-minute interview takes place on August 25, between 9 a.m. and NOON We will contact you later with the specific time for your interview. Please come to CLS (room # will be posted on the main door) before your interview time and wait until you are called.

(3) Writing Test– August 25 (Sunday) 9AM: CLS

(370 Temple St.) *Room # will be posted on the main door.

2. Online Test Instruction

(1) You can try the test only once. Be sure you are ready and have enough time before you start.

(2) The test is for students of all proficiency levels, from the elementary to the most advanced, and may contain items beyond your level. You may leave unanswered any questions you don’t understand, but try to answer as many questions as you can.

(3) When you take the online test, please DO NOT use any supporting materials/ help (e.g., textbook, dictionary, family, etc.) other than your own knowledge. The purpose of the test is to gauge your current proficiency in Korean so that we can place you into the appropriate course level.

(4) Placement Result: We will e-mail you the placement results in the afternoon on August 27.
