| Examples of Intermediate colors | Red-Orange, Blue-Violet, Yellow-Green |
| Value | The light or darkness of a color or hue |
| Hue | The color itself |
| Shades | The darker end of the value scale |
| To darken a hue/color | Add black |
| To lighten a hue/color | Add white |
| Tints | The lighter end of the value scale |
