Who were the gladiators?Strong, healthy male slaves who were forced to fight to the death in public contests. They were professional fighters.
What are "numina"?They were powerful spirits or divine forces that the Romans believed lived in everything around them.
What are the Lares?They are guardian spirits of the family.
Who were the 3 most powerful Roman gods/goddesses?Jupiter (father of the gods), his wife Juno (watched over women), and Minerva (goddess of wisdom & arts and crafts).
How did the Roman government distract the poor people from becoming too restless?The government had 150 holidays with free games, races, mock battles, and gladiator contests, usually held in the Colosseum.
