dispersion forces
electrons in the electron clouds. Primarily occurs between identical non-polar molecules (diatomics).
dipole-dipole
Attraction between oppositely charged regions of polar molecules
hydrogen bond
A strong dipole-dipole attraction between hydrogen and a small highly electronegative atom with at least one lone electron pair
intermolecular forces
a weak force that exists between neighboring particles
capillary action
the movement of a fluid through small openings
surfactants
A compound such as soap or Shout, that lowers the surface tension of water by disrupting the hydrogen bonds between water molecules
surface tension
imbalance of force that exists at the surface
viscosity
A physical property of a liquid that measures its resistance to flow
fluidity
ability to flow
