| Thesis Statement | Tells the reader what your paper is about. |
| Facts, Details, Examples | Statistics, "proven" information, quotes, illustrations, research that make your main ideas stronger. |
| Main Idea | An important point you will prove or issue you will discuss about a specific topic. |
| Lead | A catchy sentence used to grab a readers attention. |
| Sentence Fragment | A sentence that does not express one complete thought. |
| Run on Sentence | A sentence that expresses more than one thought. |
| Comma | Used to seperate items in a list, seperate introductory words from the rest of the sentence, seperate clarifying phrases, and seperate words that interrupt the main idea of the sentence. |
| Quotation marks | Use when taking information word for word, writing dialogue, referring to single poems, magazine article titles, titles of songs, short atories, and chapter titles. |
