A cell's life: Unauthorized biography

AB
Resting phaseBefore mitosis, the cell grows and duplicates its genetic material and organelles.
ProphaseMitosis begins. The nuclear membrane dissolves, centrioles migrate, spindle is formed, fibers attach to duplicated chromosomes.
MetaphaseDuplicated chromosomes line up along the cell equator.
AnaphaseChromatids separate and are pulled to opposite ends of the cell by fibers attached to the centrioles.
TelophaseMitosis ends. A nuclear membrane forms around the two sets of chromosomes and they unwind. The fibers disappear.
CytokinesisAfter mitosis is complete, the cytoplasm splits in two. Now there are two identical cells.
