Points, Lines, and Planes

The beginning concepts of geometry: points, lines, and planes are defined in this activity.

AB
PointHas no size, only location, and are named by using capital letters (A,B,C, etc.)
LineHas no thickness and continues in opposite directions without end.
PlaneA flat surface that extends indefinitely in four directions. It has no thickness.
SegmentPart of a line. It is made up of two points and the line between those points.
End PointsThe outer points of a line segment.
RayPart of a line, it has one endpoint and the line extending from that point.
CollinearA line that goes through a set of points.
NoncollinearA set of points that does not have a line going through them.
Parallel LinesLines in the same plane that do not intersect (cross).
Parallel SegmentsSegments that are contained in parallel lines.
Point SymbolDot with a capital letter
