Vocabulary -- Signal Words

Authors use signal words to tell us how to read. Signal words organize information and provide clues about what is important. Continuation signals warn the reader of more ideas to come. Change-of-direction signals let the reader know to watch out we are doubling back. Sequence signals places all events in the correct order. Time signals tell the reader when it is happening. Check out these signal words and see if you are heading in the right direction.
