1jwe First Grade

It is amazing how fast the first semester flew by.  We are so proud of how much the children have learned!  The second half of the year will be just as exciting as the first.  During the fourth six weeks we will be doing the following things:

Writing:  We will be introducing the writing process and begin writing drafts.

Phonics:  All 70 phonograms have been introduced!!  We will continue practicing these daily and relating them to our reading and writing.

Science:  We are focusing on systems parts and wholes, air and water, and dental health.

Social Studies:  The students will understand how historical figures helped to shape our community, state, and nation.  The historical figures covered will be MLK, Lincoln, Washington.  We will also be discussing the concept of time and chronology.
