Language Arts really covers three subjects; reading, spelling, and writing/English(language usage).

In reading we will begin with a set of stories that are all Journeys to Adventure; James and the Giant Peach, Arctic Explorer:The Story of Matthew Henson, and Voyager:To the Edge of our solar system.

In spelling we will work our way through the workbook usually doing a new unit every week. The students will complete the pages, complete a worksheet and take a test at the end of the week.

Language usage will begin with simple concepts of English like what is a subject and verb in a sentence. We will be applying what we learn in English to our writing.
We test both reading and writing on the ISATS this year so we will be working very hard to do well on those tests in March.
