Senior Social Studies will be taught for the first time in 2002. This will be worth 24 credits for Level 1 NCEA.
There will be four main topics taught during the year:
Popular Culture: The Merchants of Cool
This topic looks at current popular culture, how it is established (Tipping Points), and the impact that it has on our everyday lives.
Colonialism: South America and New Zealand from colonisation to independence.
South Africa: Leaders and Groups involved in the breakdown of apartheid.
Families: Supporting or Subverting Society.
