Prewrite:  Discuss chapters 4, 5, and 6. Take notes on characters and what they have learned about life so far.

Tuesday, April 20, 2004  Video today:  Scottsboro, An American Tragedy  This case that sparked the Civil Rights Movement runs parallel to the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird.

HOMEWORK:  Writing Activity:  Responding to the video.

Monday, April 26, 2004  Newspaper activity from last Friday's KC Star. 

HOMEWORK:  Find two other articles in the Star that deal with discrimination of any kind.  Write up the 5 W's about the article and also a commentary with supporting detail.

Tuesday, April 27, 2004 Share commentaries with the class.  Listen to "Strange Fruit," a poem and song.  Read chapter 25. 

HOMEWORK:  Type out paragraph answers to the 4 questions you have been given.
