Course Description: This course is an advanced foods course focusing on safety and sanitation, as well as the food service career path. Students enrolled in this course will complete the nationally recognized National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s SerSafe Food Protection Manager Certification class, which is widely recognized nationally, and is highly valued in the food service industry. Also, students will participate in a class entrepreneurship project.

3- ring notebook
5 dividers

All of the above materials will be required daily in class. You will be required to keep an organized notebook with the following divisions. Warm ups, Class notes/worksheets, Practice VoCats, Test/Quizzes, and Sample Work. Students must keep up with all information in their notebooks. There will be graded notebook checks throughout the semester. These notebook checks will combine to equal one test grade. Each notebook check is worth 20% of that test grade!!

Class Requirements:
I. Attendance will be taken everyday. If you are absent you will be given three days to make up all work.
II. Promptness- Tardy Policy is in student handbook.
III. Classroom Assignments are to be completed everyday. Late work will not be accepted unless student has been absent (3 days are allotted for makeup work).
IV. Guest speakers are to be treated with respect and courtesy.
V. V. Videos- all videos seen in this classroom are educational and directly relate to our curriculum.
VI. Behavior- See Class Contract
VII. Maturity and Attitude- This is a vocational course requiring hands on learning. If a student cannot follow safety procedures and display maturity, an administrator, Ms. Catanzano, student and parents, will hold a conference. Grade Scale: 100-93 A 92-85 B 84-77 C 76-70 D 69-0 F

Grade System:
I. 25%= End of Course Test
II. 40%= Daily Work (worksheets, quizzes, chapter questions, etc.)
III. 35%= Tests and Labs
