¡Hola y bienvenidos a CRMS y la clase de Español! / Hello and welcome to CRMS and Spanish class!

You may be "preocupado" (worried) about taking Spanish here at CRMS as you have heard that the other students have had Spanish since Kindergarten and you are not sure how you will be able to catch up. ¡No te preocupes! (Don't worry!) Students can come in at any point in the program and if they engage and participate in the class most can catch up relatively easily. We teach using a communicative method which means you can "get" most of the new material just by listening and participating well.

To put you on a level playing field with your fellow classmates, we will give you extra points on graded assignments as follows:

First quarter of Spanish +20%
Second quarter +15%
Third quarter +10%
Fourth quarter +5%

If you come in during the middle of a year you will be treated as a Q1 new student and your extra points will carry over into the next year.

After one year in the program, you will be graded on the same basis as the other students. However, please be aware that in 8th grade you will have a choice of moving into Spanish II if you have been able to catch up well or taking Spanish I which will start the year off with a lot of review.

In addition, your Spanish teacher will be available every day during Schooner Time to help you if you need it.
