2.01 Differentiate between positive and negative interpersonal skills in a variety of workplace settings.
1. Complete page 149 – Workplace Conduct and Job Success.
2. Read pages 159-163 and then using magazines, newspapers and the Internet, complete a collage contrasting positive and negative body language and facial expressions. Label each to show the message being sent.
3. On page 150 list one example of an unethical treatment in each category and one example of ethical treatment. You may talk this over with classmates to come up with your answers.
4. Read page 158 and then complete the top of page 151, Evaluating Leaders and the bottom to the best of your ability.
5. Complete page 152, Ethical/Unethical Behavior, answering the questions at the bottom as well.
6. Read page 155 – 156 and then complete page 153, Your Diversity Quotient, then circle the rating scale that applies to you.
7. Complete quiz 2.01 below. If you earn an 85% or above go on to 2.02. If not, then read Chapter 5, Communicating on the Job, pages 82 – 84, and Chapter 10, Leadership and Group Dynamics, pages 183 – 191.
8. Retest. If you still do not have 85% then see Mrs. Ray for additional work, otherwise go on to 2.02 below.
2.02 Apply effective interpersonal skills in a variety of workplace settings.
1. On page 173, Feedback Practice, list an example of constructive criticism and one of destructive criticism for each of the four scenarios at the top of the page. Then answer questions 5 and 6. Use page 197 as needed to complete this exercise.
2. Complete quiz 2.02. If you obtain an 85% move on to 2.03 below. If not:
3. Complete pages 190 – 193 giving examples to demonstrate each of the 9 guidelines. Give at least two examples in each category.
4. Complete page 185 by typing your memo. Be sure to give full details in a manner that is easy to understand.
5. Retest quiz 2.02. If you do not have an 85% or higher yet then see Mrs. Ray for additional review.
2.03. Critique positive interpersonal skills contributing to effective workplace interactions.
1. Complete page 206, How Well do you Listen?
2. Read each case study on pages 210 – 211 and then answer the questions using complete sentences.
3. Read page 214, The Importance of Attitude, and then answer questions 1 – 7 on pages 214 – 215.
4. Complete the Interpersonal Skills Questionnaire on page 216 then answer the questions on page 217.
5. Complete pages 221 – 222, Attitude Inventory, then summarize your score.
6. Complete the Leadership Self-Evaulation on pages 223 – 224 answering the questions in complete sentences.
7. Complete the Leadership Skills Inventory on pages 225 – 226 transferring your answers for each question to beside the number on the middle of the next page. You will then total the numbers in each column and indicate whether or not each is high, medium, or low.
8. Complete quiz 2.03 below. If you earn an 85% or better take your 2.0 exam. If not:
9. Complete page 212 – 213 then review your work.
10. Retest on 2.03. If you do not earn an 85% or better, see Mrs. Ray for additional work. Otherwise, take exam 2.0.
