Psychology - Prerequisite: None. Grade level 11 or 12. Psychology is a survey course of semester length aimed at helping young people understand their own behavior and that of other people. It provides instruction in basic psychological terms and in the elementary principles of the science.

WE WILL BE DISCUSSING PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH METHODS AS WELL AS VARIOUS APPROACHES TO THE STUDY OF PSYCHOLOGY. COMMUNICATION SKILLS WILL ALSO BE PART OF THESE DISCUSSIONS.

October 2012 Homecoming week- Students will be working with Special Needs students to have them participate in Homecoming 2012. Students are also making the students t-shirts for class unity day.

Oct. 22-26, 2013. Personality Testing. This will take more than one day. Discuss the difference between introvert and extrovert
"A Beautiful Mind" moved to 10/29/2013-11/2/2013. Did not finish IQ testing. Students will get a copy of the biography of John Nash and the chronology of mental illnesses.
November 26-Dec 3 - Students are working (in class) on a research paper about a mental illness. This paper is to be 5 pages long and must consist of at least 12 sources.
We are working in class to ensure that all have adequate access to computers and can get the material needed to com3lete the assignment.
January 7-?, 2014. Begin the study of the Appalachian Culture. We will study the behaviors, norms, mores, laws, etc.
February 2012. We will be introducing infancy and working with babies.
National Geographic and study of preliterate culture. See Mrs. Hess for worksheet.
