   5. Who was Dorthea Lang and how did her work inspire Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath?
   6. Effects the GD had on American society.  Be specific
   7. Describe how the average American tried to survive the GD.  What did some do to pull
   together?
   8. Hoover blamed the GD on "world-wide economic conditions beyond our control". Explain
   why this strategy didn't work
