May 2012 "From Mary we learn to surrender to God's Will in all things. From Mary we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone. From Mary we learn to love Christ her Son and the Son of God!" ~Pope John Paul II During the month of May, we honor our blessed Mother, Mary. In religion, our class will pray the rosary and review its sequence of prayers. Please have your child bring a rosary to class. Here are a few highlights from 4th grade in the last month: Language Arts – We finished reading the books in our Literature Circles - Round 2. This month we will read the novel Tuck Everlasting. Math – We are learning geometry. We will be using a lot of math terminology in the classroom. You are welcome to make flashcards for the terms related to each lesson as seen in the homework books. Religion – In addition to learning about Mary, Mother of Jesus, we will also focus on our role in the Church. We will explore the ways we are called to discipleship and how to apply these actions into our daily lives at school, at home, and at church. Science – We will complete our topics in earth science and begin our studies in physical sciences. We will learn about electricity and magnetism. Social Studies – We will delve into California’s Gold Rush period. We will examine the effects this time had on our state’s population and economy.
