COURSE EXPECTATIONS:  MRS. JULIE REEDY ALGEBRA II/TRIG.

1) Required materials
   A. Textbook – must be brought to class each day.
   B. A 5 subject notebook for homework and class notes. 
       Graph paper labels that can be purchased in the
       St. Viator bookstore.
   C. Graphing calculator TI84 plus and a scientific calculator.
   D. Pencils

2) Classroom policy & procedures – Counts for 10% of your grade
   A. Classroom participation means you are ready and willing
       to participate in each day’s class.
   B. You will bring the following items to class everyday: 
       textbook, notebook, homework, pencil, agenda and
       graphing calculator.
   C. You will lose participation points if you are working on
       assignments form other classes, not paying attention or
       disrupting the class in any way.
   D. Be on time.
   E. A learning atmosphere will be maintained by all present.
   F. Ask questions if you don’t understand.
   G. Form study groups.
   H. Get extra help in the math lab.
   I. Agendas will be checked every Friday.

3) Homework policy – Counts for 20% of your grade.
   A. Each assignment must be labeled clearly at the top
       of the page with the date assigned, page number, and
       problem numbers.  A pencil must be used.
   B. State the original problem and then show work,
       not just answers.  Work should be from top to bottom,
       not side to side.  Each homework problem must be attempted.
   C. Homework is graded through homework quizzes.
   D. For your own benefit, as an aid for preparing for tests,
       I suggest you use some marking system (*, red pen, etc.)
       to indicate to yourself those problems with which you had trouble.
   E. Keep up with daily assignments to prevent getting lost,
       behind, frustrated, depressed and/or anxious.

4) Evaluation/grades – Count for 70% of your grade
   A. Quizzes
       1. Both announced and unannounced.
       2. Covers only 1 or 2 sections of a chapter.
       3. If you are keeping up with homework you will be able
           to remain calm and confident.
       4. Pencil must be used.
   B. Tests
       1. Day of test will be announced at least 2 days in advance.
       2. Cover an entire chapter or unit.
       3. Study, relax, and THINK!!
   C. Quarter Average: Participation, homework and tests.
   D. Semester Grade: a combination of two quarters
       (40% each) and a semester exam (20%).

5.  Attendance/absence: The more you’re here, the more you learn. 
    But everyone gets sick sooner or later so please follow these
    guidelines.
   A. You are responsible for any work missed while absent. 
       Be sure to keep up with the homework.
   B. Tests are announced in advance.  If you are absent the day
       before a test or on the day of a test, you will be required to
       take the test the day you return.
   C. If absence is long term, either you or your parents should
       check my web site to get your assignments.  (847-392-4050 x 220)
   D. If absence is due to a retreat, you must let me know ahead
       of time so that we can discuss when the work is due.
   E. If absence is due to a field trip or vacation, you must let me
       know ahead of time.  Homework must be completed and
       turned in when you return.
   F. If you are in school but leave early or arrive late you are
       responsible for all work done in class that day.  Make sure
       you check with me so you don’t get a zero for the day.

6. Teacher availability
   A. I am in the building from 7:30 – 3:30.  My free period 7.  I am in the Math
       Lab period 2.  I am also available after school by appt.
