ONLINE STEP-BY-STEP HELP IN ALGEBRA

Web based tools to help you in your study of algebra:
- Salman Kahn has prepared 1500 video/audio mini-lectures on topics ranging from arithmetic to vector calculus. His website contains a detailed list of algebra topics. In the video, Salman will guide you through the steps involved in the solution. See the Kahn link below.
- Professor Larry Perez, Saddleback Community College, Orange County, CA, has prepared video/audio applets that cover most of the important topics in pre-algebra and algebra. Step-by-step solutions are provided. See the Perez links below for prealgebra and algebra.
- Steve Wolfram, the creator of Mathmatica, has provided a website, Wofram Alpha, which allows the user to type in an algebra problem. The output not only gives the solution, but also, the steps used to arrive at the solution. See the Wolfram Alpha link below.
- Our school subscibes to Hotmath. Hotmath, Inc. has partnerships with all the leading math textbook publishers, including the text you use. Click on the Hotmath link below; select log in (upper right corner); member log in name is lionsmath. To find the step-by-step solution to an odd-numbered problem, the user selects Algebra 1, identifies the textbook, page, and problem number. See the Hotmath link below.
- T-Algebra is an interactive computer program for learning algebra. It was created by three mathematicians at the University of Tartu in Estonia. You will need my help to learn how to use this program. In practice, the student provides the step-by-step solution to a problem by selecting rules from a list. In each step leading to the solution, the program verifies that the user has selected the correct rule. See me to download this program to your flashdrive.
