SPECIAL EVENTS:
December 14: PJ's in classroom for Polar Express
December 16: 1:00-1:25 Snacks in classroom; after lunch rotate for Christmas activities
December 17: Bring $1 and your PJ's

 MONDAY UPDATE:
Monday Updates will be sent home each Monday with a overview of the coming week's activities. These updates will also include a Spelling List of the week's words to be used at home. These updates do not have to be returned to school.
RISE AND SHINE:
Second Grade Rise and Shine takes place in the cafeteria at 8:10 a.m. on Fridays. It's a GREAT way to start the day!
Mrs. Hime's Class will have a part in charge of Rise N Shine in December and May!
 TRUE BLUE: Don't forget to wear or spirit shirt every Friday!
 READING:
This week we will be reading the story "I Survived the Sinking of The Titanic, 1912".
DAILY READING ACTIVITIES:
Read EVERY night for 30 minutes.
REMEMBER READING TAKES PRACTICE!!!
Children receive a Book It Pizza Certificate for a completed form. One per month
LANGUAGE:
We will be discussing verbs, adjectives, and synanyms.
SPELLING:
A Spelling word list will be sent home on Mondays and should be reviewed nightly with your child. A Spelling Practice Test will take place on Wednesdays. If your child makes a 100 or better they do not have to take the Friday Spelling Test.
A Dictation Test will also take place on these days and will be on the backside of the Spelling Test. These sentences will be given orally and your child will dictate them. They will be graded on Spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure (capital at beginning ONLY, names, finger spacing, and period/question mark/exclamation mark).

This week we will be reviewing the following:
* Adding 3 or more single digit numbers
* Associative property of addition
* Writing fractions
* Congruent Shapes
We will focus on each month's special events and related topics.
