SPECIAL EVENTS:

August 13: Classes Begin

August 20: Parent Night

September 7: Labor Day

September 24: Parent/Teacher Conferences

September 25: NO SCHOOL

October 15: NO SCHOOL

October 16: NO SCHOOL


MONDAY FOLDER:

Monday Folders will be sent home each Monday with an overview of the coming week's activities. These folders along with any completed activities, should be returned on Friday. Students who return there completed Monday Folder will receive a prize from the treasure box.


RISE AND SHINE:
First Grade Rise and Shine takes place in the gym at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's a GREAT way to start the day!

Mrs. Hime's Class will be in charge of Rise N Shine in September and February!


TRUE BLUE: Don't forget to wear TRUE BLUE every Friday!




READING:


Below is a list of the next months' vocabulary words. These words do not have to be spelled, but they do have to be read automatically. Students will be assessed on these words weekly.

Continue to review these previously introduced vocabulary words. Comprehensive vocabulary word assessments will take place periodically throughout the school year.

DAILY READING ACTIVITIES:

1. Read EVERY night for 15 minutes.

2. Practice vocabulary words daily.

MATH:

Work on the following skills:

1. Review left and right.
2. Students need to be able to recognize and write numerals 0-20. As the year progresses, students will need to recognize and write numerals 0-100.
3. Practice counting to 100.
4. Can you recognize and draw a circle, square, rectangle, and triangle?
5. At the beginning of the year, your child will be assessed each Thursday over number recognition. Your child will need to recognize and name each numeral.
6. Math facts will also be assessed each Thursday. Please help your child to memorize them.

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES:
We will focus on each month's special events and related topics.
