ART NEWS
1st grade: They are using their imagination with motivational drawings. They are always eager to come to art and learn new methods and techniques.
2nd grade: They are learning about printing with found objects. They have printed with blocks of wood and rubber bands, string, and now we are printing with potatoes.
3rd grade: They have been learning how to draw portraits.
They have drawn each other, themselves with mirrors, used texture and painted our portraits. Now we are learning how to abstruct our portraits.
4th grade: They have been making coil pottery. They have learned all about the Native American's Pottery in southwest U.S.and the differences in how we make and fire pottery now.
5th grade: They have been learning how to study and evaluate art. They have learned the 4 steps of art criticism. They are studying the elements and principles of design. They will now be evaluating their own art.
The School Wide Art Show is now in progress at Lakehoma. It runs from Jan. 28-Feb. 28 with a Night of Art the evening of Feb. 12 6:00pm-7:00pm. One piece of art from every student in the school is hanging in the halls, upstairs, downstairs, and all around the school. Please come and see what your child has done.
Look for the District Art Show at the Kirkpatrick Center the month of April. The Gala Opening wiil we the first part of April, the date and time hasn't been planned yet, look for a message in the school newspaper.
