FRENCH 2 and FRENCH 2 HONORS (French 4 below) Description of Exam: PART I. Listening Comprehension. (50 points) A. You will listen to directions given for a map of Tours. You will trace the routes according to the directions you hear. B. You will select the place for the activity you hear. (and part B for honors) PART II. Speaking. (50 points) A. You will describe a house and its furniture based on the picture provided. B. You will describe a person or activities in the picture provided. (and part B for honors) Part III. Writing. (50 points) A. You will describe your dream house: what it has in it, how many stories, and it there is anything special or unique about it. Make sure you use "il y a" and correct terminology, such as labeling the floors and measurements. B. You will write about your past years in high school. Describe your classes, friends, teachers, etc. Use the passé composé. (and choice of part B or C for honors) C. You will write about what you are going to do over the holiday break: if you are going anywhere, presents, who you will visit, what you will do/read/see at the movies, etc. Use the futur proche. (and choice of part B or C for honors) Part IV. Grammar, Vocabulary, Culture, Reading. Listening Comprehension. (50 points) You will hear passages from various readings, such as Agence de Voyages, L'allumette, Le Petit Prince, La Réclusion Solitaire, et La Nausée. You will identify the readings and answer questions based on what you hear and about the authors. PART II. Speaking. (50 points) You will select 2 of the following options: 1) Lisez la Météo. I will provide you with images and detailed numerical data on the weather forecast for several days. You will explain it in French. 2) Parlez des Cajuns. I will provide you with images concerning the history of the Acadiens. You will explain it in French. 3) Comparez Paris et Tours. I will provide you three maps, one of France, one of Paris, and one of Tours. You will compare and contrast the geography and topography of the two cities, the things to visit in each city, and the history where appropriate. Part III. Writing. (50 points) You will write on 2 of the following 5 topics: a. Décrivez les vacances en Touraine. b. Comparez la vie en 2000 avec la vie en 1900. (C'est nécessaire d'utiliser l'imparfait.) b. C'est possible que les évènements comme les «happenings-chocs» produisent des réponses au contraire de leurs intentions? Comment? c. Dans votre société, quels sont des aspects positifs et négatifs du sevrage de fumer? Part IV. Grammar, Vocabulary, Culture, Reading. (100 points) You will take a 100-point multiple-choice portion online. *Click on the link below to practice the multiple choice section.* Directions for On-line Portion of the Final Exam 1) Where is the practice exam? At the bottom of this page 2) Logging in For your practice exam, you will use your regular account. On the day of the exam, the practice link will be replaced with the actual final exam. You have a separate account for your final. You will not be able to access your regular account or your practice test results during the exam period. When the final closes, I will give you a password to get back into your usual account. The exams close when the scheduled time of your exam closes. 3) Passcode After you login, you will be asked for a "secret word." This passcode will be posted on the web when the exam opens. This will be announced in class. 4) How long and how many times do I have to take it? You can log in up to two times. ONE BIG TIP: If the screen says that the page can't be displayed or the URL is currently unavailable, your computer is running up against a busy server. DO NOT X OUT. Just hit refresh, retry, and/or back. If you X out, you have wasted a login. 5) Can I skip questions and rethink questions I have already answered just like a regular Scantron test? Yes, you can. But just be careful about watching your time. 6) What kind of feedback can I expect when I take the test? The computer will give you a score only. Remember, this score is only for the 100 points of the multiple choice online test. The on-line portion of the test is worth 100 points. The in-class portions are worth 150 points. All of the grades will be combined for your overall final exam grade. example: online portion: 88/100 in-class portion: 112/150 overall grade: 200/250 = 80 FINAL EXAM GRADE 7) Can I use materials from this class while I am taking the on-line portion of the test?
