AVID 1, Week 7
We will be starting our research on scholarships and signing up for Naviance, and haviang sorractic seminar discussing life issues. We will have our AVID Friday and start our new free day, if everything I plan is completed and we stay on task.

We will meet in the Blue computer lab and get started on Naviance.

We will finish our initial exploration of Naviance in computer lab 264 and begin our sorratic seminar.

Discuss the way the class is going. We will come to a decision and how we will proceed, and understand why certain things must be done and what the expectations are.

AVID 1, Week 5
We will continue working on the PSAT practice. Just a reminder, there is a weekly grade check and if there is a grade with a C or below on the check, the student will have to check in with me showing me notes, homework, and everything needed to complete the homework for those classes. This means there will be lots of zeros with student excused for many students showing up on zangle. Also, please remember that I am asking that $17 cash or check made out to Doherty High School to pay for the PSAT be turned into me by October 2. We will register as a class on October 5. I also am requesting $5 for crates to store and organize all of our scholarship and college applications. Please let me know as soon as possible if ther is a problem paying for these two items so arrangments may be made.

In groups discuss what was hard about filling out the applications, what information they had to find, and the amount of time needed. Also discuss why they were asked to do this activity.
As a whole group share what we found and what we will do in the Spring to make sure the real process goes smoothly.

AVID 1, Week 2
We made it throught he first week, and will move on. This week we will be working on a paractice application.
Monday, August 20
We will brainstorm ideas of what will needed to complete a college applications in groups of four.
We will share as a group our ideas of what is needed.
Tuesday, Auguest 21
We will get a practice college application and begin filling it out.
We will get some tips on writting the college essay and see some examples>
We will poiont out the things that make the examples good.
We will begin writing our own essays.

Mrs. Fruh our college councelor will give us some information on college entrance essays and scholarships. She will also give us some pointers on the scholarship essays we will be writting soon.

We will have snack and have individual time to work on things and visit with Mrs. Medina to see how things are going.
AVID 1, Week 1
Welcome to our Junior year of AVID. I know we will have a greaat hear. We will be doing a lot to get ready for the preSAT, ACT and finalizing our college research and practice filling out applications.
