I help students become aware of and manage their emotional lives in order to facilitate the learning process. Students are encouraged to learn, practice and utilize self-advocacy skills. Social workers seek to empower students to increase their sense of competence and self-esteem, to improve their ability to communicate and problem solve, and to build upon their capacity to meet life's challenges and demands in a constructive and growth-oriented manner. Plano social workers collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, counselors, psychologists, nurses, speech clinicians, and other staff to increase the effectiveness of the school in meeting the educational needs of its students.
