I've been the librarian at Canterbury School for fourteen years and I have seen a dramatic change in the the growth of our library. Our collection of over 15,000 volumes contains fiction and nonfiction titles that strive to meet the needs of the "whole child" by challenging their minds and nourishing their spirits.
As librarian, I serve all children from kindergarten through grade eight using a fixed/flexible schedule. Students use the library for guided research and developing their love of literature. They may come to the library in their free time to read, check out books and use computers for research or projects. I enjoy collaborating with teachers on curricular and co-curricular projects. Good reading habits are promoted through the use of the Accelerated Reader program, competitive book teams and author/illustrator visits.
Mark your calendars for a visit with author Carole Boston Weatherford on February 22.
Canterbury students love using our new Destiny on-line catalog from school or home to find and hold books and make recommendations about their favorites to friends. They may also connect to World Book Encyclopedia online by using the link below.
