This page was updated Tuesday, November 17. We are still having issues with students who are doing outside work or talking during class. If you want to be considered present, you must pay attention. You will be asked to leave and marked absent for any of the reasons which I listed on your Course Outline. I gave this document out on the first day, and it clearly describes those reasons for which you will be asked to leave class. If you have any questions, please contact me by e-mail. After each exam, I post the Honor Roll here. These are the names of students who have a ladybug on their exam paper because they made an A or B. I forgot to post the Exam 3 Honor Roll. This site received 5226 hits during the Spring 2009 semester. **Click on the link in the upper right corner of this page to send an e-mail to my home address. Please check your e-mail at least every other day.** When you send me an e-mail, please make sure the subject line refers to the actual subject you want to discuss. Please don't "reply" to my messages without changing the subject line. Thanks! Check out my facebook page at www.facebook.com - join the Northwest network! There will be a "Quia bonus question" for each exam. This question will be worth 3 points and you will need to write the answer on your scan-tron. For Exam 5, the Quia bonus will be about the Great American Smokeout, which will take place on November 19. The American Cancer Society uses this date to encourage smokers to quit. Please go to the bottom of this page and click on the link to the Great American Smokeout. When you get there, click on Reasons To Quit. Then, find out about the Health Benefits of Quitting. You will be asked to fill in this blank, "After 12 hours, the level of ___________________ in the blood returns to normal." You need to know the answer to this question on exam day in order to get the 3 points. Please don't share this information with other students. Let them check for themselves! If you miss class, e-mail me or ask another student what you missed. Some of the topics discussed in class are not in the textbook. If you miss a day, please get the notes from someone who was present. All classes: Please get your own private e-mail account. Don't share with anyone. If you don't have a private account, go to www.yahoo.com and sign up for one. Then, send a message to my home e-mail address: bybuggnw@bellsouth.net So far, 156 students have completed the e-mail assignment correctly. BIO 1113: Exam 5 will be on Ch 13-15. Please come to class so you will know which sections of these chapters will be covered. MWF 11/16 We started Ch 15 with the Intro pages about Golden Rice. We continued in that chapter through DNA sequencing. We will finish Ch 15 on Wed. MW 11/16 We finished Ch 14 and started Ch 15. We continued through DNA Amplification (PCR). Because the MW class has had fewer minutes of class time than any other section, we will have class for 25 minutes before the exam on Wed. TTh 11/17 We covered most of Ch 15. We will have class for 25 minutes before the exam on Thu. PLEASE play the games!!! If you just print things out, you won't get the benefit!
