Here's what you can do...
1) Be there and be aware...each day you are in class you gain that much more experience with the language. If you are thinking about the material presented you, your mind will do amazing things.
2) Keep notes and records...writing things down helps you concentrate on new words, phrases, and ideas better. You can also keep better track of what assignments you have.
3) Complete work on time...being responsible in this way not only insures a higher grade, but is also an important skill to develop as you get older. Reliability is a very noble virtue.
4) Study a little every day...think of your speaking practice time as study time. Say new words and phrases out loud and think about what they mean. Try to make this time fun, also. Make up songs or say words as you bounce a basketball. See how fast you can read longer texts. Challenge someone at home to say what you can say.
5) Take pride in your work...people notice this. You will open up doors of opportunity if you show you care and put effort into your work. Everything you learn and produce is an investment in yourself. You are worth every "Pfennig!"
