7 septiembre: good things, do our first LSC (sustained silent reading) of 10 minutes [record in our reading log, in back of journal]; finish 2 truths/1 lie activity, review basics of verb formation in preterit, imperfect, present, future, and conditional. HW= p.110 in folder, and start to look over the new vocab list.
10 septiembre: share weekend updates (in Spanish), look at this week's vocab list on p. 117. HW= 1) go to schoology.com, log in, and take the Spanish 3B PRETEST; 2) complete p. 116, and 3) study vocab as we'll have a quiz on Tuesday and another on Thursday.
11 septiembre: take QUIZ #1, share good news, do journaling entry #2
(prompt: what do you remember about September 11, 2012?) Correct p.16, reviewing future irregular stems. HW= read p.117 story well and do pp.117-118.
12 septiembre: share good news, look at 2 cartoons from Spain, review ser/estar, head to computer lab to practice ser/estar on conjuguemos.com, along with the future tense. HW= complete pp121-122 and study p.117 for our second vocab quiz.
13 septiembre: get Tuesday quiz back, make corrections and resubmit, share good news, take today's vocab quiz, discuss violencia en Libia, look at photos from Spanish newspaper re remembering 9-11 in America. Read together in Tomi. HW= read carefully the p119 story, and color or highlight all the verbs as you go. This story will be featured in some way on our first test.
14 septiembre: share good news, note that our first test is coming next week; get new song packet; watch first half of Extra episode 11 (travelling to Londres para unas vacaciones). HW= start studying the next vocab list on p.125
17 septiembre: good news, finish Extra episode 11, take notes on this week's vocabulary on p.125. HW= study for tomorrow's quiz (over 1-6 on p.125) and complete p.125. NOTE -- heading toward our first test of the trimester on Friday (over vocab lists thus far, plus future tense and ser/estar)
18 septiembre: good news, new word "descalzarse" with photo of Principe William, take vocab quiz #3, read p.125 story together and discuss. HW - do p.129-130 for Wednesday.
19 septiembre: good news, correct pp.129-130, do 2nd day of LSC (silent reading time); HW= write a creative story using some of the p.125 vocabulary. 4 sentences per person helping to write the story minimum. Send me the story via email or on schoology.com in the dropbox. To see how to type special characters, look on schoology at the file I've posted there.

21 septiembre: take our FIRST TEST!! 84 points possible. No homework due Monday. Have a great weekend.
24 septiembre: new seats, share weekend happenings, get Friday's test back (Make corrections and resubmit. RETAKES ARE AVAILABLE ALL THIS WEEK for an average of the two grades. SEE ME!!) BRIEFLY learn today how to form verbs in the present subjunctive. HW = do p.141, trying it out.
25 septiembre: share good things, look at photo from southern Chile (Patagonia), correct p.141, learn the BASICS of when in Spanish we use the present subjunctive (packet coming tomorrow). HW= write 5 sentences of things that you want other people to do, following these examples:
Yo quiero que mis hijos no piensen mal de sus hermanos.
Yo quiero que todos mis estudiantes estudien un poco cada noche.
Yo quiero que el presidente de Syria se vaya pronto y que la gente no se muera tanto.
Keep studying p.139 as well!!
26 septiembre: turn in 5 sentences, share good things, song: A Dios le pido by Juanes -- listen, fill in blanks, find the subjunctive in this song. get new packet of explanation of this subjunctive verb form. Learn the irregular forms, head to computer lab to practice it on www.conjuguemos.com. HW = complete p.2 of the new packet.
27 septiembre: good things, turn in 5 sentences, writing day (5 minute in journal), go over pp1-2 in subjunctive packet. HW = go to schoology.com and leave your own good example on the "message" before midnight on Friday; study for the Friday quiz on how to form verbs in the subjunctive (present tense)
28 septiembre: practice subjuntivo more together, take quiz (20 pts), share good news, start p.145 together (due Monday), begin to watch Extra episode 12. HW -- make sure you've done the schoology assignment given yesterday, and complete p.145.
1 octubre: Journal write re. weekend, share weekend happenings in Spanish, correct p.145, correct our 20 point subjunctive quiz from Friday. Discuss this class' project of interviewing a native Spanish-speaker. (Due week before Thanksgiving). NOTE: This week's vocab quizzes will be on Wed and Friday. HW for Tuesday -- p.146
2 octubre: 10 min. or silent reading time, share good news, look at this week's vocab in detail, taking notes, listen to music to end hour (A Dios le pido by Juanes). HW = prepare for vocab quiz over terms 1-5 on p.143, and complete the "pelipareja" worksheet we got in class.
3 octubre: vocab quiz on 1-5, share good news, head to computer lab to do assignment for today posted on Schoology.com. Please complete all the tasks there, then go to submit a message to me via the dropbox on schoology... you'll go to dropbox, submit, and create a message there in which you can tell me how those activities went and which nulu article you read.
4 octubre: warm up translations, share good things, discuss the pelipareja sheet, learn about the WEIRDO rule for when to use the subjunctive. HW = finish the schoology assignment from Wed., study vocab 6-10 p.143 for the quiz, and read the pp.133-34 RAIMUNDO story in your packet.
5 octubre: good news, take vocab quiz, discuss Raimundo story, get rubric for our interview project (note: bring a rough draft of the 12-15 questions you plan to ask to class on Oct 10 for peer editing... final presentations will be Nov. 13 or 14); review WEIRDO rule and practice more. HW - translate the underlined phrases in Raimundo (p.133-34), remember we have vocab quiz on 11-18 on Tuesday, and will have our next test on Thursday or Friday of next week.
8 octubre: share good news, look at vocab 11-18 (quiz Tues), go over Raimundo translations, review WEIRDO and more practice w/ subjuntivo. NOTES: Tuesday -- quiz on vocab 11-18; Wednesday -- quiz on irregular subjunctive verbs (dé, esté, vaya, sepa, sea, haya); Thursday -- Test #2 on p.143 vocab and the subjunctive
9 octubre: share good news, take vocab quiz, read over p. 144 story, practice subjunctive irregulars a bit more. HW = study subjunctive irregulars, and work on your rough draft of those 12-15 questions you will use in your interview.
10 octubre: warm up with 5 more practice sentences, take quiz on irregular subjunctive verbs, then share good news and do peer editing of the questions you brought to class for the interview project. HW = STUDY UP FOR THE TEST!
11 octubre: test!
12 octubre: watch Extra episode 12 and write six sentences summarizing it. Complete top 1/2 of p.131 from Tomi va a España.
15 octubre: share weekend happenings, do 11 min. silent reading, contemplate this proverb -- "la vejez empieza cuando los recuerdos pesan más que las esperanzas"... and look at this week's new vocabulary on p.157. Quizzes coming on Tuesday (1-6) and Thursday (7-12). HW = complete p. 159-160
16 octubre: correct p.159, take vocab quiz, share good news, learn how to give both POSITIVE and NEGATIVE familiar commands. HW = p.162 + top half of p.163.
17 octubre: correct 162-3, head to computer lab to practice commands. HW - do bottom of p.163
18 octubre: take vocab quiz B from p. 157, correct p.163, look at how FORMAL commands work, share good things, start Extra's final episode (13). HW = do p. 171-172 for more practice.
19 octubre: finish Extra episode 13 (final episode) and listen to "Peter Pan" by Canto del loco. HW = be practicing your commands, both formal and informal. We'll be quizzed on Tuesday over informal commands, along with our vocabulary.
22 octubre: notes on this week's vocab, listen to "No te pido flores" by Fanny Lu (lots of subjuntivo in it), correct p.165 and 171-72. HW - complete pp166-167 (formal commands) and study for the quiz tomorrow over vocab 13-18 + informal commands.
23 octubre: share good news, take vocab quiz, practice informal commands more with power points and a game of Simón Dice or two. We'll take the informal commands quiz on Wednesday, as we played ourselves out of time today. HW = practice your FORMAL commands on conjuguemos.com twice (write down your score) and read and summarize another article from nulu.com. I'll collect that work on Wednesday.
24 octubre: turn in homework, good news, practice commands a titch more, take informal commands quiz (15 pts), correct p. 166-67, head to lab to practice FORMAL commands more. HW = read the p.157-8 story, study vocab and study formal commands. Test coming on Friday over commands of all sorts and the vocab p.157.
25 octubre: take vocab quiz with a few formal commands, share good news and a long but good joke in Spanish, read p.157 story together, preview the test for Friday -- STUDY the p.157 vocab and re-read the story on pp.157-8, and know your commands, both informal (tú) and formal (Ud. and Uds.).
26 octubre: test!
29 octubre: get new seats, share good news, discuss Day of the Dead and begin to plan Friday's celebration, 11 minutes of silent reading; look at our final vocab list on p.181 -- quizzes Tues and Thurs. p.184 -- these are all TRIGGERS for needing to use the subjunctive mood. HW = do p.186 #1-17, and read p.181
30 octubre: vocab quiz, discuss Hurricane Sandy, get tests back! Retakes ARE AVAILABLE for a week.
31 octubre: do verb of the day -- "hago" head to computer lab to practice subjunctive some more, get activity sheet with various Spanish Twitter tweets to complete for Thursday. HS -- Twiccionario paper + study for vocab quiz. Remember that everyone helps in some fashion for our Friday celebration!
1 noviembre: warm up translations in notebook, vocab quiz, watch video on Day of the Dead celebrations in Oaxaca, México.
2 noviembre: celebration of Day of the Dead
5 noviembre: warm up translations in notebook, share good news, Note: no Tuesday quiz this week, but next and final test on Friday. this week's goal: get really good at knowing when to use subjunctive (and memorize all the p.184 triggers). HW due Tuesday --- pp. 198-200

8 noviembre: get credit for homework, correct pp. 187-89, more practice translations in our notebook. HW = study up!
9 noviembre: final test of the tri (pre exams)
12 noviembre: get tests back (retakes are available all week); share good news, turn in our journals with a post-it note in the writing you are most pleased with; look at what's on the final exam and where/how to study. Namely, look over very well everything on pp. 209-211 where I have recapped all the grammar stuff from the trimester.
Reviewing for the final exam... there's a packet in your binder on pp. 213-221 which you can complete for 40 points (due on Friday). OR... if you'd rather review on your own, you can turn in 10 non-perishable food items to me (or a $5 contribution to the North Kent Service center) and get your points that way. If you want to do both things, you can also earn a little extra credit.
Tuesday 13 Noviembre: use class time to begin movie, work on review packet, and prepare for presentations.
14 noviembre: 2-3 minute presentations TODAY of our interview project. Rubric can be found on our schoology.com page... print that out and bring it with you for that day.
15 noviembre: more of the moview and/or working on review packet.
16 noviembre: get journals back, answer questions on the review, finish movie
