Welcome to AP Language and Composition
Use this site as your home base to navigate the "jungle of rhetoric." This course is largely based upon close reading of non-fiction selections. Emphasis will be on reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills. The work load will be significant, so please stay current with all assignments.
We are wrapping up the third quarter! Our focus has been on rhetorical techniques and devices in essays expressing commentary on American culture as well as The Great Gatsby. Our job is to apply our understanding of these practices in close reading and writing. As we look to fourth quarter, we will be honing these skills in preparation for the AP Language & Composition Exam in May.
There are many resources for improving writing. Consult some of the links below. It is a very GOOD IDEA for any AP student to become familiar with these opportunities; they can be used throughout high school.
