Teacher and School Community Block Scheduling
With the nation continuously looking towards schools to create a more civilized and cohesive society, the pressure on schools to implement and devise programs, schedules, and curriculums that work, is increasing.  The educational system has encountered and implemented many different reforms in an attempt to create that cohesive society.  One of the reforms introduced in the 1990's was block scheduling.

While schools all around the nation are currently using this type of schedule, the research on the effects of block scheduling is mixed.  Studies continue to be published indicating that test scores have not improved due to block scheduling. However, advocates of block scheduling argue that improving test scores was not the original goal of block scheduling. Arguments for both sides can make it confusing for one to decide if block scheduling is worthwhile.

Knowing there are two conflicting sides to this issue, it is vital to read and research both sides to make an educated and informed opionion about block scheduling.  In an attempt to form an opinion, use the sites listed below.
