Dear Parents: Since reading is an important part of your child's learning process, I would like to encourage you to read to your child at home. They will develope a life-long love for reading if they can share these experiences with you. Other things that you can do to foster development in your child includes giving them task to preform at home. Make them responsible for doing these daily. They could include feeding a pet, setting the table, picking up toys, or, helping with the dishes. Another area that we are working on includes money. They need to be able to identify quarters, dimes, nickles, and pennies. Please allow them to help you when making small cash purchases, such as buying pop and candy, etc. Using a vending machine is a good way for them to learn what each coin is. We are working on telling time also. They will be learning the 'o'clocks', i.e. 12 o'clock, 1 o'clock, and on around the clock. They need to be reminded that the 'big' hand is always on the '12' in the o'clock's. When they catch on to this concept is it relatively easy for them to tell the o'clocks. Thanking you for all the work you are doing with your child and I appreciate your interest in your child's achievement. If you have any questions please call me at the school. I will be happy to help provide learning tools for you to use with your child. Ms. B. Miller
