What We Are Learning
Reading We are reading a folk tale called Half-Chicken. We will learn how to paraphrase.
Grammar We are learning about prepositions. We will also write a descriptive paragraph with similes. Everyday we are completing a Simple Solutions grammar lesson which reviews all the grammar we learn in class. Every Wednesday, we will take a Simple Solutions quiz.
Spelling/Vocabulary Chapter 5 Group A vocabulary. Test will include spelling the words and matching the definitions.
Religion We are reviewing the first 5 Commandments. The children will recite all the commandments by the end of February.
Math In math, we will starting a chapter on Fractions. The students will learn to represent fractions with a denominator and numberator. They will learn how to find an equivalent fraction and how to simplify. Every night but Friday, the students will have a Simple Solution Math lesson to complete and a quiz every Friday. Science We are learning about plant growth and reproduction. The students will learn about germination, fertilization, and the life cycle of plant.
Social Studies Students are learning about the State of Arizona.

Grammar: Discuss and practice prepositions, complete worksheet. Simple Solutions lesson 95.
Spelling: Chapter 5 Group A vocabulary pretest. Complete definitions, pages 59-60. Test on first 5 words on Wednesday.
Math: Simplifying fractions, pages 494-496. Workbook page 119. Simple Solutions lesson 93
Religion: 5th commandment, pages 100-102. Review for test tomorrow.
Science: Pollination & Fertilization, pages A84-85. Draw and label in foldable. Complete Pollination & fertilization worksheet in packet. Plant seeds.
