Hey everyone! Have you had some great summer fun yet? Good! I have been keeping very busy and am enjoying a bit of relaxation time. I just wanted to let you know I have added a couple links to our site. The first is a photo album from some of our fun stuff throughout the year. I hope you enjoy! If you have trouble accessing the site, just email me and I will see what I can do from my side.
And, in case you are starting to get a bit itchy to work, I have added a couple of new sites for you to explore. If you remember, we checked these out before we left school. Have fun with them!
Mikey is still doing okay thanks to all of you. There are many people who need our prayers too, so don't stop talking to God. He listens!
Keep enjoying your summer. I miss you all and I think of you and pray for you each day. I will see you before too long on those 1st grade benches!
Peace and love,
Mrs. Nicol

My, where has the time gone? I just wanted to add a picture to our website to show you the most AWESOME bulletin board the kids did. Since we have been learning so much about animals it was the perfect time to talk about Noah and the arc. Well, one thing led to another and this week we paired up (coincidence? - I think not) and we decided what animals we wanted to go on the arc. Each pair worked together to create twin animals to take the ride. So, on the arc they went. And, just to make sure the animals are able to get off the arc, there is even a ramp that can be lowered at the back of the arc. Enjoy!

And speaking of the animals, we have started presenting our reports to the class. This is such a wonderful experience for the kids, and they learn in so many different ways. Of course the report and project offer tons of learning opportunities, but so does listening to the report. At the end of each report we have a question/comment time. When you are called on you must state whether you have a question or a comment, which gives the kiddos a chance to really think about what it is they are going to say. It is very rewarding to the presenter to have a classmate raise their hand, say "I have a comment. I learned ............. from your report." The children can hardly wait for their turn. It's exciting! Thank you for your support of this project.

Please help your child prepare to lead the school Closing Prayer on March 25th at 2:30 by helping them practice their specific reading each day. Maybe even a couple times each day would be good :-). So far they are doing a pretty good job working on their parts. They are so excited to be leading prayer on such an important day. Thanks for your help in preparing them to the best of their ability.

Well, what a day this was! Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all. Did your child share with you the craziness of our classroom today due completely to our wonderful leprechaun, Seamus? Chairs tipped over, leprechaun coins thrown around, leprechaun shadows on the floor, and ... a note! Seamus wrote to us and answered several of the questions we had asked him when we wrote to him on Tuesday. And he wrote right to us, using our names and everything!! And he wished William a Happy Birthday and called him "leprechaun Will." And, Seamus took our unicorn card and said he was going to ride the unicorn in the parade today, but he would bring it back before the end of the year. Hopefully our room won't get messed up again in the process of returning the unicorn!!It was all very exciting.
And, there is more excitement coming our way and we could use some help. On Monday, March 28th we get to experience Field Day/Fun Day. We can only get this done if we have some awesome parent helpers. If you are able to give some time, from 8:00 to 9:30, please let me, or Coach Kathy know. We are really in need of about 4 parents, so please consider helping out. Thanks so much. And, wear sunscreen!

Wow - and so our first month of the "not-so-New-Year" is pretty much already behind us. My how time flies! January kept us very busy with lots of activities that helped us to keep learning and growing. And February promises to be the same. Please remember that this week is our special "Catholic Schools Week". We will have many exciting events throughout the week, starting with Grandparent's Day on Monday. Please remind all the Grandparents to come to the classroom of the youngest child. Everyone will then start the week off right with our Mass at 8:30. Grandparents will receive additional information when they check-in as to what the rest of the day holds in store.
Tuesday will be "Identi -T Shirt Day" where children can appropriately express their personalities with their choice of T-shirt.
On Thursday of this week the 8th grade will challenge the DEFENDING teacher/staff to the annual Volleyball Game. This takes place in the gym on Thursday afternoon and is a fun time for all.
And, of course we end our wonderful week with the Family Picnic in the Beatitudes Ramada on Friday. Closing Prayer begins at 11:00. The children will return to their rooms where they must be picked up and signed out by a parent or guardian in order to attend the picnic. If you are unable to attend, you might want to check with another parent to see if your child can be with them during the picnic time. Please remember to send a note in to let us know who will be signing your child out if you choose to do this.
Have an awesome week. Thank you for choosing Catholic schools for your child. And more importantly, thank you for choosing the Saint Theresa Catholic School community to begin your child's school career. I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing journey! Previous...
What a busy week we have going this week. And the children are all so excited as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior. I hope you have a chance each day to check the Advent calendar link at the bottom of this page. It has lots of good daily suggestions to help keep us all focused and prepare our hearts for the true meaning of Christmas.
Just a few reminders for this week...
Please remember that students need to be in our classroom at 6:00 on Thursday night (dressed in the appropriate attire) to prepare for our awesome Advent Pageant. Remember, if you are looking for photo ops, your best choice of seating is towards the choir area. :-) Students will return to the classroom after the performance. It is VERY important that you do not ask your child to leave with you from the church or in route to the classroom. It truly is a safety issue and we appreciate your help in this matter.
This is the last week for collection for Sr. Adele's "White Drive". If you haven't had a chance to bring in men's socks, underwear or tee-shirts, there is still time. Our class has done a good job, but there is always room for more - so keep 'em coming!
Students are permitted to wear Christmas shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts or socks all week long. We ask that students still are in uniform bottoms and shoes.
Our Advent Celebration party is Friday morning. If all helpers could come at about 9:45 to help with set-up that would be great. Thank you, in advance, for making this a wonderful Kindergarten celebration day!
I have added additional games in our links section of the page. Have fun!
And...may you have a very, very happy, holy Christmas season. Peace!

What a great Blue Ribbon Day today!! It is such a proud moment for our school. Our celebration today ended with a bang - literally. After hearing wonderful speeches from many important people, the Suns Gorilla showed up shooting off streamers and confetti! In this time of thankfulness, please know how truly thankful I am to be a part of this school and to be a small part of your child's educational and spiritual journey. Peace!

Please remember that STCS is sponsoring a FOOD DRIVE for St. Vincent de Paul this week. Collection day will be Friday. It would be wonderful to have to empty our classroom collection box a few times before then. Please share what you can to help those most in need. Thanks.

What an exciting week this will be. The BOOK FAIR starts tomorrow - hooray! We will be previewing the books and making a "wish list" on Monday beginning at 9:20. We will be shopping on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at various times during the days. The Book Fair is a great opportunity to possibly help Santa out with some wonderful gifts that keep on giving over the years. Books Rock!
It was a job well done on our first official homework packet. I heard from several of you that the kids were so excited that the homework got done in one night. That's fine, but please remember that if the book that comes home is assigned as a "must do" the book should be read every night. This week's homework is one of my favorites of the year. I hope you enjoy it as well.
A quick reminder also that Friday is our special Blue Ribbon Celebration beginning at about 1:45 and lasting until 3:00. All children are asked to wear their blue uniform shirt on that day. Parents are welcome to attend this awesome celebration as well - and wear blue if you can.

Happy All Saints Day! Please remember that this is our Parent/Teacher Conference week. I look forward to being able to spend a bit of time talking with you about your amazing children. If you have not received your conference time, please let me know as soon as possible. A reminder also that school dismisses at noon on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There will be no lunches on those days. There will still be Enrichment classes on Wednesday. Have a great week.

Just to let you know...I have added a link at the bottom of the page that will contain pictures from our classroom activities. I will try to keep this section more for written updates, news flashes, etc. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Please note that the page does take a moment or two to load. :-)

Happy 10/10/10 Day! I look forward to getting back in the classroom on Monday. Our Diocesan In-service was very informational, but not quite as much fun as being with the kiddos! We will be having an exciting week this week and will have another Language Arts assessment possibly on Friday. The high frequency words we are working on are "like" and "a". The letters/sounds are /s/ and /p/.
I am having a bit of difficulty getting my pictures transferred but I hope to have new pictures up soon. Keep checking back. Also, I put another computer keyboard activity as a new link. Check it out.

October 1st may be the feast day of Saint Theresa, but we had an early visit from her today. Saint Theresa came to talk with us today about her life. Did you know she used to have temper tantrums and was pretty spoiled? That's what she said. She also said that she had a "conversion" and decided to do kind things for people whenever she could. She encouraged us to do the same thing. And, she reminded us how much God loves each and every one of us - and that includes the parents!! Have a wonderful day celebrating our very special saint. Do something nice for someone!

A sample of the children "writing the room".
Checking out the alphabet chart. We know that LMNO is NOT a letter!
A classroom favorite...the Science table and our God Box stuff.
Can YOU tell which "Humpty Dumpty" fell from the highest wall?
