ALL GRADES - Besides their library skills, I will be using suggestions from Mrs. Tilley to reinforce the activities and subjects being taught in their classrooms. Second and third grades have been doing writing, evaluating books, or giving opinions about books they are familiar with. Several students have done outstanding work.

KINDERGARTEN - Students have been learning the information found on book covers and spines. Also what an author and illustrator is and what parts of the books they make. They have also been retelling stories in their own words.

FIRST GRADE - For this nine weeks, 1st grade has been thinking about who, what, when, where, why, and how while reading or listening to a story. Thid helps with their comprehension.

SECOND GRADE - Will study the differenced between realistic and fantasy fiction.

THIRD GRADE - Will be learning about book series, both fiction and non-fiction They will also study about more complex chapter books. Some poetry will be used also.

FOURTH GRADE -Different types of language or dialouge that the author used is being discussed and the impact their choice makes on their story. These students now have the privilege of checking out more than one book at a time.

FINES AND OVERDUES -  When a child receives a FINE SLIP this means the book was returned, but that it was late. Fines are 2 cents a day. This does not include weekends or holidays when the school is closed. When child receives an OVERDUE SLIP this means that the book is still out and has NOT been returned. This slip will list the cost of the book in case it has been lost or destroyed. If the book can not be returned, then the cost must be reimbursed to the school.
