Welcome to Fairfield Elementary's Reading Connection!

As the Reading Intervention Teacher for the Elementary, this website is designed to offer some suggestions for how to help with reading skills at home. Just click on the different links below and explore!

Many parents of third graders are asking what they can do to help their child(ren) prepare for the TAKS test, so I've prepared this month's webpage as a connection for some on-line practice! I will also include some test taking tips, progressively difficult "assessments" and vocabulary to help all students become familiar with key terms used in the questions of the test. This website is under construction frequently to offer more information as soon as it becomes available - so I invite you to check back frequently.

Parents can practice right along with their children on these exercises to see how well they would do. While only the students have actually seen "the test", I encourage you to use these reading practice assessments as a guide for the types of reading questions that teachers have been told should be on the test. It doesn't hurt for the students to re-take these practice assessments as they will eventually become familiar with the format of the test. Unfortunately, the format can't be duplicated exactly with these on-line practice items, but I've tried to duplicate the main question types.

I've also included links to other websites that have high interest, factual information that students might be interested in reading.

There is also a link to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) website to the TAKS Information Booklets that also provide examples from the test.
