  Grading Policy

Grades
Grades will be calculated by dividing the total number of points earned during the 9 weeks by the total number of possible points. Each assignment will be given a possible number of points and the earned points. Grades that are earned will usually fall under one of the following categories:
Tests- literature and grammar
Quizzes – literature, grammar, vocabulary, DOLs, folders and anything covered in class. Quizzes will be announced at least 1 day in advanced UNLESS it is an open book or notebook quiz.
Homework - Homework will most often be checked for effort and not accuracy. Though there is no set days that homework will be assigned, students can expect homework most every night, whether it is simply an overnight assignment or an ongoing project. Check the quia page each day for homework updates.
Papers – This includes in-class and out of class essays or papers.
Projects
Participation
- Participation points are earned from participating in class discussions and staying on task.
DOL-effort grades and quizzes. Each day you will take notes on the rules discussed in the DOL and each week you will be given a DOL quiz that reviews those skills.
Vocabulary
Again, each individual assignment will be given a specified number of possible points by the teacher. Each assignment, no matter what the number of possible points, is equally important and should be treated as so.
