GEOMETRY - COURSE DESCRIPTION

Geometry is offered to students who need an "applied" math course. The units include working with lines and angles; working with shapes in 2 and 3 dimensions; using ratio and proportion; working with scale drawings; using signed numbers and vectors; using right triangle relationships; using trig functions; geometry in the workplace; solving problems with computer graphics; spatial visualization; coordinate geometry; logic; and transformations.

    MATERIALS
  • 3-ring binder with loose paper and dividers
  • small spiral notebook
  • 1/4" graph paper
  • pencils (NOT PENS!)
  • colored pencils
  • calculator
  • index cards
  • OPT: compass, protractor, ruler, small Fiscar scissors

PROGRESS REPORTS
Progress reports will be sent home with the students at 4 1/2 week intervals for parents' information. They may also be e-mailed for your convenience. To this purpose, please make sure I have a current parent e-mail address.

COMMUNICATION
E-mail is most convenient for me, but do not hesitate to contact be by telephone or mail should you have questions or concerns.

TUTORING
If you desire after school tutoring, you must be in room 500 with Mr. Jessee or in room 411 with Mrs. Borror by the 3:15 bell. No appointment is necessary for either. Students should bring book, assignment, pencil and paper and JUST SHOW UP.

HONOR SYSTEM
Students are on their honor to do their own work and not to share their work with another student. Any violations will result in a zero for the assignment.
