HOMEWORK: <> workbook 43-44 sec. 6, 7, 8
DATE DUE: 2-7-12
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Spanish III is a continuation of the structure and vocabulary learned in Spanish II. More advanced structures will be learned with a continued emphasis on speaking the language. The 2 past tenses of Spanish will be reviewed and practiced during this year or semester. We will also be learning some more advanced ways of communication and continue to study the Spanish speaking cultures as we are leaning the language.
CLASS EXPECTATIONS
All learning in foreign language builds on previous learning. Therefore our first activity will be a review of Spanish II. When we move in to new material for this year, it is very important to keep up on a daily basis. If you get behind, it is very difficult to catch up.
Students should expect homework on a nightly basis. As with all foreign language study, it is very important to: Practice, Practice, Practice! Learning a language is a skill. To be proficient at any skill, it takes practice. We will spend a lot of time in class practicing advanced skills, but it is also important to continue that practice outside the classroom.
As we move through the year, more and more of the classes will be conducted in Spanish. Ample opportunity will be given for clarification of anything that is not being understood. Students should feel free to ask questions and indicate that more clarification is needed. This will not in any way indicate a deficiency on the part of the student. We are here to learn. Part of learning is asking questions.
Hopefully as we interact with each other, we will not only gain more proficiency in the language, but we will have fun doing it. Enjoy!
GRADING
Homework, quizzes, and projects will all be averaged equally using a point system. They all count 100 points and the grade is figured by dividing the total points earned by the total possible points. Tests will count 200 points which gives a larger weighting for tests.
Example: Homework – 100 points possible – 100
Quiz - 80 points possible – 100
Homework - 95 points possible – 100
Test - 85 x 2 = 170 points possible – 200
Totals 445 500
Grade average = 445/500 = .89 or 89 percent
Grading will follow Washington County guidelines.
