As another great school year comes to a close, our students have again shown us that character counts at our school! You all should be so proud of yourselves for being such super citizens!
7th grade students MUST return their Academic and Career Plans by the end of the school year. Remember, these need to be SIGNED AND DATED by your parent or guardian! More information about the plan and career clusters can be found at the Virginia Career View website.
     What Does an Elementary Guidance Counselor Do?
You may be wondering what exactly an elementary school guidance counselor does. In my role as your school guidance counselor, I offer a variety of services and activities, including individual and group counseling, parent and teacher consultation, information services and referral assistance to other programs and services in the community. I love to help students, parents and teachers enjoy a positive learning experience!
Strong emphasis is placed on the development of good character in our school. Throughout the school year, we focus on six character traits, including: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. We study one character trait each six weeks and students can earn tickets to redeem for prizes at our Character Counts store by showing good character! I also visit regularly with classrooms to help students learn more about things like building good character, liking themselves, making friends, thinking positively, conflict resolution, making good choices, bully prevention and many more topics.
 Feelings
We all have different feelings, and that's okay! All feelings are okay. Sometimes we feel happy, sometimes sad, sometimes nervous, sometimes proud, sometimes scared, sometimes embarrassed, sometimes lonely, sometimes frustrated, sometimes excited. Everybody has all different kinds of feelings. We might not feel good ALL the time, but that’s okay! We are still lovable, awesome, fantastic, dazzling, cool, incredible students!
