April 27
Math-
We have started a new unit on motion geometry this week in math and will continue to work on this for the next week or so. There will be a short unit test for this on Monday May 9, before we go to camp.
Language Arts-
This week in LA we will continue our newspaper unit. We will spend time learning about the parts of the newspaper, reading articles and then we will be writing a number of articles in class. This unit will continue until after we get back from camp in preparation for the Provincial Achievement test in May.
Social-
We are going to continue our new unit on Ancient Greece this week in social studies beginning with some research into a few areas of interest to each student. Students will learn more about the roles of men and women in Ancient Greek society as well as the social structure in Ancient Athens.
We will introduce our independent inquiry project related to Ancient Greece this week and students will work on this at school. As part of this project they will be asked to create an object, poem, food, assignment, article of clothing etc to go along with the written portion of this project. These creations will end up being the students "offering" to the gods at our special Greek day on May 20. Should be an excellent unit and the students are very excited to get started.
Ancient Greece unit test is scheduled for May 5 and a study guide was sent home before the Easter weekend to allow students to prepare well in advance. We will be working on a review booklet in class this week which has many questions that will help prepare them for the unit test.
Thursday is a half day
Friday is dress down and special lunch.
A reminder that Friday May 6 is a PD day, so students are off school.
