Welcome---Miss Jennifer Zacek!!!
Miss Zacek is our student teacher from UH/Stephen F. Austin University. She will be with the class until the end of April. The kids are excited about having another teacher helping them in class.
Here are some of the things we will be covering during the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 1 in our class...
SPELLING
Unit 22 - Students will have their test on Friday.
Homework:
Tuesday- Students put words in ABC order.
Thursday - Study for test.
LANGUAGE
Students will start writing their "How To" paper using their favorite recipe. It will be interesting to see how these recipes turn out. There might be a future Martha or Emeril in the class. Daily Edit tests are always given on Friday. Please study for this test.
READING
This week we will be studying main idea, context clues,sequencing, vocabulary, and other comprehension skills. Keep reading with your child at home. This sure will help in class. WE ARE THE AR KINGS AND QUEENS!!! Our class has over 1,300 points with 86% accuracy on comprehension. WE LOVE TO READ!!!!!
MATH
Geometry, multiplication, division, and word problems will be the main focus for the next few weeks. Please study those multiplication facts at home. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!!!!
SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE
The kids had a blast studying simple machines. The kids worked in groups, researched a simple machine, and then created a slide for the class powerpoint on machines. Their slideshow really turned out cute.
We will begin our study of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and other famous Americans next week. It's always fun to learn about famous people who lived long ago. HISTORY IS EXCITING!!!!
