Mrs. Burcham's 4th grade May 16-20 Spelling--Lesson 32. We will still test on Friday morning before we go out for our picnic. Grammar-- We have covered all the grammar frameworks for the year, so we will continue to review with DLR and lessons that go with our reading. Math--Chapter 23, decimals. This introduces decimal place value. I will also review and practice long division. Reading/Writing--We will doing some special computer labs, and will study simple machines. We will also use our Science book, chapter F2 about force and motion. Friday, May 20th, is our picnic day! This is our end-of-year "play day" to eat and play outside most of the day. We will head outside around 10:00, have lunch around 11:00 or 11:30, then play for the rest of the afternoon. It will also be an opportunity to have a "Year Book Signing", so your child will want to purchase or bring his or her yearbook on Friday. Each student needs to bring a sack lunch, 2 canned drinks, and may also bring towels to sit on,sunscreen, etc. I can hardly belive school is winding down so quickly! Watch for an RSVP in this week's Monday folder for the Aloha Luau, which is next Tuesday, May 24. We will need to know how much food to prepare. This exciting evening will be filled with a cookout, special program by the 4th grade class, our final Award's Assembly, and slide show presentation. You will want to plan to stay for the entire evening! It will be quite a send-off to 5th grade! After the Luau, if you need to make arrangements to get your child's report card, please let me know. Otherwise, report cards may be picked up on Friday, May 27, which is the last day of school, before 10:00 a.m. I have enjoyed this year's class tremendously! I've been so blessed with strong parents, willing to support me, AND your child's education. I will treasure you both for always! Your child may have mentioned that I will be transferring to Middle School next year to teach 6th grade math. I can only hope that I will have the opportunity to work with most of you again in a couple of years! Thank you for everything you have done to make this a wonderful, positive, and memorable year for me! I love you all! Until next week, (only 1 more to go!) Mrs. Burcham >
