Day #1
Teacher Expectations, What is Biology
1. Teacher Expectations of Biology Students: Students will read and ask questions about rules and regulations
2. What is Biology Lecture: Students will learn the fundamentals about the basics of biology.
3. Fact or Fib: In this icebreaker activity students must decide which one of 3 statement is true about Mr. Wooten or biology.
4. Lab Safety Contract: Students will read and review the lab safety contract and get it signed by next day in order to use it on the quiz tommorrow.
Day #2
What is Biology, Lab Safety Quiz, Rules Quiz
1. Rules Quiz: Students will be tested on their knowledge of Mr. Wooten's rules.
2. Finish What is Biology Lecture: Students will learn the fundamentals about the basics of biology.
3. Lab Safety Quiz: Students who have their lab safety contract signed are allowed to use them on their quiz.
4. What is Biology Worksheet: Student knowledge about biology basics will be reinforced.
Day #3
Scientific Method
1. Scientific Method Lecture: Students will develop a basic understanding of the scientific method and how it is to be applied.
2. Begin Paper Football Folding Lab: Students will perform the tasks of the lab and and collect individual data.
3. Drug Worksheet: Students will look at a drug trial and determine independent variable, dependent variable, side effect, hypothesis, and conclusion.
Day #4
1. Finish Paper Football Folding Lab: Student data will be gathered and classroom data will be made using an excel file.
2. Data Types / Theory vs. Law Lecture: Students will understand the 2 types of data and how they are typically represented. Students will understand the difference between a theory and a law.
3. Scientific Method Quiz: Students knowledge about the scientific method will be assessed.
Day #5
Review for Test #1
1. Review Game: Students will play a review game on quia to help them prepare for their test tomorrow.
2. Crossword Puzzle: Students will fill in a crossword puzzle with answers that are based in their vocabulary.
3. Study Guide for Chapter 1: Students will be given time to start / complete a study guide to the chapter 1 test.
